Sunday Morning Learning Communities
Sunday Morning Learning
Knowledge of God and His word are key parts of being a spiritually mature follower of Christ. PICC is offering a variety of communities that will focus on developing our understanding of God and His word.
1 Corinthians
Where: Chapel - 9:15am
Leader: David Rhodes (Retired Pastor), John Pritchard (Bible Teacher)
What: Corinth was one of the most immoral cities of its day. The gospel of Jesus Christ penetrated the pervasive evil of the city and a church was born. But the evil of the city often seeped into the church. A host of issues resulted: church division, pride, sexual immorality, lawsuits between church members, marital issues, controversies about spiritual gifts and doubts about the resurrection. The church at Corinth will help us process the controversies and doubts of our day. When the world around us seems to drift further and further from God’s ways, how should we then live?
CONERSTONE -Building Lives and Families on Christ
Where: Building H - 9:15am
Leaders: Jim and Peg Morgan (Veteran adult ministries leaders)
What: The heart and soul of our time together in Cornerstone will be the realization that the Bible is the greatest guide ever written for our marriages, parenting, careers, and lives. Peg and Jim will be openly sharing the many lessons they have learned during their 50+ years together (most of which were learned the hard way). Our hope is that the class time will be filled with learning, laughter, and fellowship. Ideally, the final result will be an increased desire to build every aspect of our lives biblically with Jesus Christ as the Cornerstone.
“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” Psalm 118:22 and I Peter 2:7(b)
STUDENT MINISTRIES (6th-12th Grade)
Where: Anchor/Anchor Conference Room - 9:15am
Leaders: Keith Spires
What: This Winter, we are revisiting and examining intriguing and sometimes funny stories, characters, & situations from the Bible that often get overlooked in our normal everyday Bible studies. This class is relaxed and discussion oriented. Please bring your Bible.
Esther
Where: Building H - 10:30am
Leader: Lydia Barrows (Bible Teacher)
What: Esther, 'a woman for such a time as this' was relevant in her day just as she is relevant for our times. The book of Esther revolves around antisemitism in Persia (present day Iran) bent on exterminating all the Jews. However, due to Esther's faith, courage & the support of her cousin Mordecai, she revealed the plot to the king who reversed the scheme. Because of Esther's heroic actions, the Jews not only survived; they fulfilled God's plan for Messiah to come. It was through the Jews that Jesus was born as The Savior of all those who put their trust in Him. Hope you will join us as we study this relevant & inspiring story that has practical applications for us today.
